Baring it all: Musician Bif Naked on fighting cancer and keeping her city cool

Iconic Vancouver-rocker Bif Naked graces the cover of the latest issue of Megaphone Magazine. Bif is a Canadian rock legend, but it's not just her voice that's strong: at just 41-years-old, she's battled breast cancer, divorce, and a city almost too expensive for her to live in. In issue #112 Bif tells Megaphone how she stays grounded and thankful for what she has when many Vancouverites survive on so little.

Also in this issue Vancouver's Co-op Radio prepares for a big move to a new frequency. Switching with The Peak to 100.5 FM, we detail how Vancouver's community radio station hopes to attract new listeners to the nearly 40-year old station. Another big move we cover in Vancouver comes from a Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner's decision to withdraw their confidence in a pro-police expert witness who testified in the inquiry into the fatal shooting of Paul Boyd by a Vancouver Police Officer in 2007.

Across the water in Nanaimo we talk about the First Unitarian Fellowship's decision to switch their low-barrier winter shelter back to an emergency weather shelter, removing the city's only regular low-barrier option for homeless people. Vendor Bob says goodbye to a good friend from the Sylvia Hotel; David Suzuki cries a river over the misuse of fresh water in Canada; arts listings; great news about the Victory Square Block Party, and more!
