For people experiencing poverty and homelessness, the obstacles standing in the way of positive life changes can feel insurmountable.
Everyone needs opportunities for meaningful work — to earn an income, feel valued, and participate in community. This fall, Megaphone and Hope in Shadows will be celebrating 14 years of meaningful work and community connection for people experiencing poverty in Vancouver and Victoria.
Join the Megaphone community for the third annual Megaphone breakfast on Tuesday, November 8th at The Annex.
This event will bring together the Megaphone and Hope in Shadows community -- vendors, supporters, and partners — to build support for solutions that can build strong communities, and end poverty. We'll celebrate what the Megaphone community has accomplished and talk about our vision for the future as Megaphone grows.
This event is worth waking up early for - comedian and actor Pat Kelly of CBC's This is That will be our host, joined by keynote Katrina Pacey, Executive Director of Pivot Legal Society who will help us highlight the work of vendors in our communities. We'll also award one hard-working vendor the honour of Vendor of the Year.
This event takes place on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples. As we organize and celebrate, we also remember the historical and ongoing colonial genocide against Indigenous peoples that make it possible for many of us to be here on this land.
We hope you can join us!
