Megaphone is very excited to inform our readers about the innovative and forward-thinking Headlines Theatre project, Us and Them (co-directed by David Diamond and Kevin Finnan).
Celebrating its 30th year, the community based theatre company will soon be running Us and Them at The Cultch as a way of delivering awareness to the community about the hardships created when we view the world from an "us vs. them" perspective, while exploring ways to proactively combat those issues by switching to a healthier perspective and taking action.
Concerns such as over-consumption without regard for the less fortunate, racial profiling, annihilation of other ethnic groups and turning a blind eye to those in need are explored on the stage. The first half of the performance takes place with the audience being, well, an audience, as the performers act out real life situations surrounding the aforementioned issues. The same performances are repeated in the second half but this time the audience is involved as a way to try and solve the presented complications through collaborative thinking.
As part of our partnership with the production, Megaphone will be distributing free tickets to our vendors and to low-income people on behalf of Headlines Theatre—so that everyone has an opportunity to attend and participate (if you are low-income and interested in attending or know a group that would like to distribute tickets, please contact [email protected]).
