No More Homeless Deaths

More people died homeless in British Columbia in 2016 than in any year on record. At least 175 homeless people died in 2016, more than three people each week. This is a crisis on our streets that demands an emergency response.

Join Megaphone to call upon the B.C. provincial government to immediately convene a Death Review Panel on homeless deaths.

A Death Review Panel examines a group of deaths and develops recommendations to reduce the likelihood of similar deaths in the future.

This is what we need to do:

1. Immediately convene a Death Review Panel.

2. Immediately Review and release the data for 2017 and 2018 to better understand the scale of this emergency.

3. Implement recommendations from the Death Review Panel to prevent further unnecessary death. This could include: improving access to housing and other necessary services; reducing the risks associated with substance use by making legally regulated drugs available alongside harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services; and eliminating the criminalization of people experiencing homelessness.

Stand with us. Add your name to say: No More Homeless Deaths.
