Live Debate on the Ethics of Oil TONIGHT @ The Rio

This looks like it's going to be really entertaining. Kudos to the Rio for hosting a free, live debate on such pressing sociopolitical/environmental issues; here's hoping we see more of this kind of thing in the future. If my chest weren't imploding into my windpipe, I'd definitely be going to check it out.

The best part is I hear they're using golden-era debate rules: the night's not over until someone goes home crying.

From the Ben West vs. Ezra Levant - A Debate On The Ethics of Oil facebook page:

"Ezra Levant - Author of the controversial books Ethical Oil and Fight Kyoto, Fraser Institute Alumni, founder of the Western Standard newspaper and newly announced Sun TV (sometimes called Fox News North) "straight talk" commentator.

Ben West - Healthy Communities Campaigner for the Wilderness Committee, Canada's largest membership based wilderness preservation organization. Responsible for organizing campaigns addressing the causes of climate change and the sources of harmful toxins.

Moderated by Charlie Smith, editor of the Georgia Straight.

The debate will also be steamed live to the internet at for anyone unable to attend in person. Stay tuned for more details.

This is a free event but seats are limited. If you would like to reserve a seat email [email protected]"
