“COVID-19 is revealing the incredible inequality that we have in our country when it comes to socio-economic status, when it comes to people’s situation when they are in institutions, and it’s shown the discrimination related to race, class, gender, and ability, when we look at who is most impacted, who is most vulnerable, and who is dying at the fastest rates.” — Senator Kim Pate

Megaphone’s cover story: Locked up during lockdown explains how Covid-19 has exacerbated problems that have existed for years: overcrowding, lack of health care and other resources, and inadequate supports after release.

Join a virtual conversation led by people with lived experience of poverty and incarceration. Together, we will discuss the cover story and reflect on how our incarceration system could be different post-COVID-19.

What you can expect:
* Interactive Q & A with Mo Korchinski, Unlocking the Gates Peer Health Mentoring project administrator
* Interactive Q& A with a featured Megaphone vendor with lived experience with the incarceration system
* Group reflection on what our incarceration system could look like post-Covid-19
