With a wide, warm smile and a contagious positive energy, Stephen Scott is a joy to be around. But the gregarious Megaphone vendor has had more than a few setbacks in his life—a car crash, coma, severe leg trauma, brain cancer, and an HIV diagnosis. In the fallout from these events, Stephen became homeless.

Despite these challenges, Stephen has maintained an indomitably sunny outlook on life and last year began working as a Megaphone vendor in the West End. The job gave him the perfect outlet to pass his joy onto the public and he’s quickly become an important member of the community. Because of the impact he’s made on his customers and his work on the Vendor Advisory Board, Stephen was recently awarded our inaugural ‘Vendor of the Year’ award.

“Selling Megaphone helps me feel like I’m able to give something back to society,” says Stephen.

This holiday season, Megaphone needs to raise $14,000 in order to continue to provide an opportunity to homeless and low-income people in Vancouver and Victoria like Stephen. Support Megaphone by making a donation to our vendor program (through Hope in Shadows) and be part of Megaphone's change that works.

It’s been a big year for us at Megaphone. We expanded to Victoria, increased the number of vendors, improved the quality of the magazine with a change to a monthly format (which has led to an increase in sales) and launched a landmark report on homeless deaths in British Columbia and Canada.

With your support, in 2015 we'll be able to train new vendors to sell the magazine, offer more services to our current vendors, continue to publish our award-winning magazine, and advocate along with our vendors for compassionate and effective policies to end homelessness and poverty.

Please support Megaphone’s change that work with a donation of $100, $250 or even $500 today!

Sincerely,

Sean Condon
