Writing Workshop Wednesday: How to Smoke Your Last Cigarette, by Peter Kryszkiewicz

How to Smoke Your Last Cigarette

Anticipate

but wait...

Hold it tender -

your last nico-bender.

Stroke that long white slender tube -

not that one, bud, you flippin Rube!

Light up! Light up!

and suck in deep

the clouds of toxic bliss you reap.

Down to the nub, almost gone,

you are no longer tobacco's pawn.

The last sweet cloud, the pleasure's done.

You're pissed at the loss, but your lungs have won.

Now cogitate that newest feeling:

"Where's another smoke for stealing?"
